Okay, I'm a big STAR WARS fan, but not a hardcore geek about it. I can't tell you the name of all the background droids in the original trilogy, the model numbers of the blasters, or name all the kinds of star ships there are. But I was a teenager when the first STAR WARS was released, and I always thought the original films were really exciting and innovative.
So, now I'm on Broadway in a musical called AVENUE Q, and we have lots of celebrities come see the show and stop by after to say hi. Sometimes we get photos taken with them, sometimes they just say hello. I heard in advance that Mark Hamill was coming to the show, so that day I brought in my old Don Post Classic Action Stormtrooper helmet, and Mr. Hamill graciously signed it.
It says, "Best to Rick (from a galaxy far, far away!) Galactically yours, Mark Hamill." He was very friendly and generous with his time and compliments, and didn't hesitate at all to talk about STAR WARS stuff. In fact, someone pointed out a picture on the wall of me in my white armor from Halloween, and he said, "Yeah, those are made better than the ones we used in the films!" All in all, a very nice celebrity encounter. Thanks, Mark!
